We stared at images of both and have to agree. These look much more like afflicta, so we will move them there.

Acronicta afflicta? If rearing, be sure to supply with soft/rotted wood for pupation.

 
So are you seeing this as a single pair
of black clubbed dorsal setae per segment = afflicta, rather than the two pair per segment of brumosa?
They seem to be mostly broken so its hard for us to judge, though there seem to be two black bases on the early segments.
