Andy: I just encountered this photo - which certainly must be the female of the Ventura Co. endemic Nanno. vanduzeei. Congratulations on your many fine observations and photos of interesting California Diptera!

Thank you for your kind comments. Who doesn't love Asildae. I will continue to seek them out and snap away. I'm currently stalking a large, sexually dimorphic Laphria in which the male has a yellow mustache and scutellum. I have collected it a few times but it has not sat for the camera.
