winter stonefly - Taeniopteryx nivalis - female

winter stonefly - Taeniopteryx nivalis - Female
Dummer, Coos County, New Hampshire, USA
March 25, 2008
Size: 15mm
There were lots of these on the snowbank along the Androscogin River.

New genus for the guide
Don, thanks for keying out these specimens.

Taeniopteryx nivalis
A female, but fits the characters of T. nivalis very well.

Just noticed
that another specimen which I had set aside was a male of T. nivalis. Couldn't find another picture with the same date and location, but if there is, they are both this species.
