Heringia Rondani 1856

~30 spp. in 2 subgenera in our area(1): subg. Heringia s.str. | subg. Neocnemodon Goffe 1944
Remarks
H. calcarata larvae specialize on woolly apple aphids, Eriosoma lanigerum. Females lay eggs directly into aphid colonies where the larvae feed for ca. 9 days before pupating in the soil or on limbs. They significantly control aphids in apple orchards. (Short 2003)
