Cockroach Ootheca

Cockroach Ootheca
Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA
March 27, 2008
Size: 12mm
Found this Ootheca adhered to the door frame of my backyard shed. There are large dark brown roaches found in my wooded backyard (Oak and Pine). I believe this is from one of these roaches. They get pretty large at ~30mm.

The female chewed up bits of wood and pasted it to the case to hide it, I guess.

Looks different from Parcoblatta
in that it has no vertical lines and it does not look very smooth and is just about black in color .
