white underbark larva

white underbark larva
Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
March 26, 2008
Size: 11 - 12 mm
This is another larval denizen of the underbark habitat of a 2-3-year-dead red oak I cut down. I think it's a beetle but I've been fooled often enough before. It appears to have two small, dark urogomphi on its terminus.
