Also Cryptocephalus? I actually thought this was the same beetle as the previous posting, but after seeing the pictures...one has orange spots on the end and the other does not. (Found same time, same plant.)

Bassareus detritus. This is the only species in the genus that has an opaque pronotum.

Both of these images
remind us of Bassareus mammifer in the guide.

 
Well,
It is kind of hard to tell with these old G3 photos :). Anyway, I agree the coloring and general shape is the same, the only thing that worries me is that the pronotum seems to be a bit different in shape where it meets the Elytra.
