Newly emerged dragonfly?
American River, Sacremento County, California, USA
March 22, 2008
Size: inch or so
Okay... so, any ideas here? Found at the edge of an isolation pond of American River. Is this a newly emerged adult dragonfly feeding on its shell or something? Interesting little guy. Any ideas? Thanks.

Prob Coenagrionid, since M3 is closer to nodus, but I can't quite tell if Cu1 and Cu2 are developed enough to eliminate anything except Lestidae (1)

Yep. But damselfly
Yep, its a very newly emerged (teneral) damselfly. Standing on its larval skin waiting for its wings to expand and dry out before it can fly away. They can't really move until they dry a bit.
