Size: 8-12mm
This is the smallest of the Melittia species. The larvae are found within the swellings of Cucurbita foetidissima stems and fruit. This specimen was attracted to the graperoot borer pheromone lure. The adults emerge throughout August and early September. This moth was collect by William Taft. Photograph taken by Ronald Priest of the Michigan State University Museum.
