Hemileuca peigleri - Hodges#7744.3 - This caterpillar was found on April 20, 2019 crawling on our carport slab. I put into a large mayonnaise jar with fallen live oak leaves mixed with a little dirt. I added some sticks for it to rest on and fed it live oak leaves for a surprisingly long time since it looked like a 5th instar to me. After it pupated I replaced the top with netting and put it into a closet to keep it dark and took it out about October 15th so I could watch it and mist the container outside.
