Ant(?) on Effluvia in Basement - Galerita atripes

Ant(?) on Effluvia in Basement - Galerita atripes
Junction City, 15 mi. SE, Geary County, Kansas, USA
November 7, 2019
Very puzzling--my cat had thrown up her dinner and I returned a few minutes later with paper towels in hand to find the spot mostly cleaned up--with this ant(?) in the center! Is it one of the velvet ants? I was lucky to get one picture--but one was all--before she scuttled back under a cabinet.

Ground Beetle
It is one of the Ground Beetles, Family Carabidae, possibly in the Genus Galerita.

Several Ground Beetles have chemical defenses, this may have irritated your cat.
