Size: approx 1.5 cm
I would love to know what this is! I often find them in early spring, hunkered down in mallow flowers. Some people have said Alkali Bee or something in the family andrenidae.

Long-horned Bees?
Look at the size of those horns! :) Looks like a male Eucerini and that is as far as I go.
