Red Bug in Sphagnum

Red Bug in Sphagnum
Kingston, Ontario, Canada
October 16, 2007
Size: 0.9x0.5 mm
This little creature I found while identifying sphagnum on a Sphagnum branch deep inside of the mass. It was collected on mineratrophic peatland - Larix laricina - Alnus incana /Sphagnum Woodland. On the left side one can see something like a leg and in front two antennas. Can it be Subclass Entognatha, Order Protura? Or may be immature stage of something else?

Mite?
My first guess would have been some sort of mite...
These mites apparently eat moss, although it doesn't look very similar to me. Possibly an earlier life stage though.
...And there are other little red mites in wet areas, such as these:

Thank you for your ideas and
Thank you for your ideas and comments. I myself is a vegetation ecologist with a limited knowledge but much of interest to insects (and all life forms in general). Accidently, I initiated two discussions on the same subject. I posted another thread with a title:
Can it be Subclass Entognatha, Order Protura?
There are some comments there as well.

Dah!
I think I made a reply on the other entry of this image...
I think I postulated that it might be an aphid of some type, right?
Or a young scale bug. I have no idea from this angle. If you have other photos of it, especially ones that show the number of legs that might be useful to it's identification. :)
