Stiria rugifrons

Stiria rugifrons
Karnack, Harrison County, Texas, USA
November 20, 2019
Size: 26mm
The final instar twelve days after the preceding molt. The molt itself somewhat worryingly took nearly five days to complete. Perhaps owing to rather cold temperatures over the interval in question. At the completion of the molt the larva was predominately pale yellow with light brown accents and a broken white mid-dorsal stripe. The head capsule in particular was completely yellow. A day after that the larva had darkened considerably to the pattern illustrated in the photo.
