Citheronia regalis

Citheronia regalis

Karnack, Harrison County, Texas, USA
August 16, 2019
Size: 9mm
Eggs were collected from a female attracted to a UV light on 08/05. The eggs started hatching on 08/15, this particular larva hatched on 08/16. The leaf the eggs are on is Mockernut Hickory (Carya tomentosa) as that is the most common hickory in the area, but the larvae would subsequently express little interest in it as a host plant.
