Small, short-winged winter stonefly

Small, short-winged winter stonefly
Houghton County, Michigan, USA
April 6, 2008
Size: 5 mm
This small, nearly wingless stonefly was caught on a bridge railing over the Pilgrim River just outside of Houghton, Michigan. The graph paper is a 1 mm grid. There were also larger stoneflies that looked very similar, but had full-size wings. Would those be two different species, or do some stoneflies have winged females and nearly wingless males?
