Size: ~5mm
A small beetle which has been resting on the chisel in my windowsill for a number of days now. The head is an odd saddle shape.

Seriously, you should look for a pile (or piles) of sawdust in your workshop and see what wooden object this critter is emerging from (like the handle of your chisel, perhaps?). There may be more of these coming soon.
