Beetle - Chrysomela scripta

Beetle - Chrysomela scripta
Sand Springs, Osage County, Oklahoma, USA
April 7, 2008
Size: 4.76mm (3/16")
I thought this was a Cottonwood Leaf Beetle - Chrysomela scripta like the one I posted here .
But that one doesn't have the red colors that this one does.
Please help with ID.

It is a Cottonwood Leaf Beetle...

Not sure why some have the red stripes and others don't. I don't think it is a Male/female thing because I have an image of two with the red stripes mating. But then again I also have an image of a Green Dock Beetle mating with a Multicolored Asian Lady Beetle

....
Ok, that second picture is pretty freaky....dogs and cats living together....it's pandemonium....

One time...
I saw a wood frog trying to mate with a spotted salamander, floating on top of a pond. Wasn't quite quick enough with the camera, alas.
