Identification
Dorsocentrals numerous but only posterior two strong; scutellum with three pairs of marginal bristles (vs. two in most Heleomyzidae). Costal spines often weak.
Remarks
Probably only two species in North America, barbata with legs mostly yellow and petersoni with legs mostly dark.
