Aphodius?

Aphodius?
Noe Valley, San Francisco County, California, USA
December 19, 2019
Size: ca 5 mm
A horrible phone photo and likely frass, but I don't see scarabs very often in my urban neighborhood. I went back a few minutes later with my camera and it was gone... Any chance this is Aphodius? Thanks!

Paul Skelley says,
"Yes, picture could be better. Either Chilothorax distinctus or Pardalosus pardalis. Variable color pattern, no clypeal teeth. If elytral suture were black = Chilothorax, if paler = Pardalosus. Frankly, I'm leaning toward Pardalosus in general color pattern."
