Hover fly to ID - Scaeva affinis - Female
Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
May 15, 2005
Another hoverfly to ID. I don't have any record of this in my files and hope its not a species that I have posted earlier. ID would be appreciated, thanks.

Female Scaeva pyrastri
Hello Kildale,
Without any doubt a female of Scaeva pyrastri.
Very characteristic are the shape and color (white) of the spots on the abdomen, and the clearly inflated frons of the head!
Greetings,
Gerard Pennards
