This beetle emitted a hissing sound when aggravated; I didnt know Scaphinotus members were capable of this.

I love the sounds these big Scaphinotus make. All Cychrines can stridulate, even the small ones like Sphaeroderus and Maronetus. Maronetus sound similar to Passalids, very faint squeaking.
