shiny green fly - Lucilia

shiny green fly - Lucilia
Decorah Prairie, Winneshiek County, Iowa, USA
October 7, 2019
Size: ~8 mm
This looks like the classic "green bottle fly", but I'm not sure how to tell the difference between shiny green or blue flies in the Calliphoridae family. If I had to guess, I'd put it in the genus Lucilia. I will be interested to see what this fly really is.

Thanks for looking at this fly and confirming it is in the genus Lucilia, John! This will help me start learning more about the different blow flies in my local area.
