I'm glad you saw them too, Alan -
Nice shots of those little butterflies!
However, I don't think there's an Azusa Canyon in Ventura County. Most likely you followed the road from the town of Azusa into San Gabriel Canyon, following the San Gabriel River. Perhaps one of its tributary canyons, or somewhere off the road, i.e. off the North Fork? Anyway, that's all in Los Angeles county. Please correct the location information.
