This looks like a Pearl Crescent but since I'm not familiar with Texas?
Maybe a Phaon?

Silvery Crescent?
Try looking at the Silvery Crescent page. I believe the silver dots within the black dots on the hindwing are distinctive (but there may be others in texas I'm not aware I'm from Ontario.)

Someone in the group called it a Silvery Checkerspot.

Ya, I think Silvery Checkerspot is a different common name for the same species...I think I just mistyped. (in the same group as the crescents)
