Fungus on Bug

Fungus on Bug
Peachtree Corners, Gwinnett County, Georgia, USA
January 22, 2020
Size: ~ 15 mm
The first photo (taken 01/22/20) shows a Ribbed Pine Borer beetle pupal chamber containing some type of fungus-impacted bug. The site was located immediately adjacent to BG confirmed Ribbed Pine Borer beetle/ pupal chambers (BG images 1772103 - 1772105)

Two days later on 01/24/20 the fungus had pretty much washed away following a heavy rain leaving behind these bug remains (Photo2). Not sure if the remains are a Ribbed Pine Borer beetle larvae or some other type of insect?

Note: It may be completely unrelated but Mock Oyster mushrooms (Phyllotopsis nidulans) were observed growing nearby on the dead/ fallen Pine tree trunk and it is possible that the white stringy rot on the bug is associated with the Mock Oyster mushrooms.
