Explanation of Names

"The name of the genus (from καμψις, the curve, and κνημη, the tibia) was given because the males of many species are distinguished by the peculiar curvature of their middle tibiae." -- Hermann Loew

Identification

The modified male mid tibia is a Male Secondary Sexual Character which is very distinct in Campsicnemus
