Mating Pair - Anthocharis sara - male - female

Mating Pair - Anthocharis sara - Male Female
Irvine Park, Orange, Orange County, California, USA
April 16, 2008
I was fortunate to see these two. A male sara I was tracking moved down rapidly and struck this pair, mating about eight inches off the ground. They turned a bit from the impact, looking like a small white flash as the sun hit them.

Just browsing through the Orangetips and was quite impressed by this photo. I would be thrilled to simply get a record-shot of this species mating, much less of this quality. Excellent!

Thanks, Harsi
I find these quite hard to shoot, especially with wings open, but have been lucky from time to time.
