Looks a lot like Ixodes scapularis to me

 
Certainly possible!
It's difficult to tell adults apart without looking at some features under the scope. I've caught Ixodes adults that in the field I thought were I. scapularis until I got them under a scope and found out they were I. dentatus or other species.
