Fishing spider - Dolomedes

Mason Farm Biological Reserve, Orange County, North Carolina, USA

While pulling out an invasive privet from a puddle, this large fishing spider suddenly emerged from the water; it must have been resting on the sapling's roots. It was a beautiful spider.
