Eristalis arbustorum .... mal
Eristalis arbustorum .... male.
Yellow/orange markings on tergite 2 broadly reaching posterior margin and joining the markings on tergite 3 which are restricted to half of tergite; Eristalis tenax has the band at the posterior margin orange and the markings on tergite 2 have inner margins much closer or if doubtful then obviously not reaching posterior margin.

A revelation opening up a number of possibilities beyond E. tenax. Thank you for the detail of your explanation. E. arbustorum has been seen before in the patch but not identified beyond genus
