Chalcosyrphus? -
Chalcosyrphus piger
Near Woodworth, Rapides Parish, Louisiana, USA
March 8, 2018
This appears to be something in the genus Chalcosyrphus, possibly C. piger. If the genus is correct, it would be a new data point for March in Louisiana.

Red abdomen and hind tarsi black -> C. piger. C. libo also has a red abdomen but its hind tarsi are largely yellow plus it is a touch more northern.
