I went with Anania leuschneri because Hugh said "Anania extricalis is a tan species, which maybe occasionally can have a slight yellowish tinge" which doesn't match this moth at all.

I guess he changed his mind. "I would call this extricalis. So far there is no evidence that leuschneri occurs away from the coastal plain." - Hugh McGuinness (pers. comm. 1/1/2020).

I just found the email on this and I think just going by range is a mistake. I have found several species here that were way out of the expected range.

If the hindwing has an am. line, then I think you are correct. I am worried about the color as well.
