Leucorrhinia
Pretty sure it's a Whiteface, Carolyn, but I'm not that confident with females...

Thank you, Ken
Maybe proxima?

whiteface
I see what looks like split cells in the radial planate of the left forewing so likely glacialis but I'd want to see at least 2 wings in focus to confirm.

L. proxima - immature male
I am able to view this image at full size and, when it is zoomed in, I do not see a set of split cells in the radial planate of the left fore wing. I also see a center row of cells to the outside of the forewing triangles. Based on that combination, this is an immature male L. proxima.

Thanks for having a look, Larry
I'm afraid this photo was the best of the series that day. :-(

Whitface
something to remember for next time :-). Males of glacialis and proxima can be told apart from a dorsal shot of the cerci.

Thank you
I'll have to buy a magnifying glass. :-)

Loupe
A 10x loupe is a great tool for that. Belamo makes a great one with a lanyard that makes it easy to access.

Belomo loupe
I'll second that. I have the 10x triplet which is of good quality. The price appears to have increased a fair bit since I bought 2 at a reduced price a few years ago and gave one to a friend.

A good photo of the wings is still the best for those of us who don't capture many individuals.

thanks
For catching my misspelling!

speelling
It was GOOGLE that caught it, not me :-)

Thanks
Thanks for the suggestion of the 10X triplet Belomo loupe.
