Tiny unknown weevil - Glyptobaris lecontei Cass County, Texas, USA April 22, 2008 Size: 1/8 inch long
My red-tipped photinia blossoms have been covered with these for a week or more. I know it is a very small weevil and I know it drops loose from it's perch at the slightest provocation. I could only get a usable shot by letting them drop into my hand. They curl up and lay still for a moment or two when that happens and that gives me time to get focused before they decide to uncurl and move.
