Moved from Beetles.

Moving here for more visibility.
Looks familiar but I cannot immediate place it. You can start in Tenebrionoidea or Cucujoidea.

Moved from ID Request.

Cryptophagus? Typhaea??
too blurry for an id

that was my first thought too
thanks

or...
how about Cryptophilus seriatus?

This ID seems promising.
The light colored "epaulettes" on the elytra are universal to these small beetles, which I have seen daily for the past three days on the compost bin. Cryptophilus seriatus looks most like these beetles. I'll try to move one to better light to get a sharper photo.
