small green "Junebug" - Serica
Ludwig Prairie Preserve, Winneshiek County, Iowa, USA
July 17, 2019
Size: ~9 mm
I looked through the different may beetles and Junebugs looking for green ones, but they were in short supply. I did see something similar in Serica though, so I will be interested to see if that is where this beetle belongs, if the photos are clear enough for an ID. There were numerous individuals feeding on leadplant blossoms on a prairie remnant.

Thanks so much for identifying this Junebug as belonging in the genus Serica, Blaine! They are a very beautiful green color when the light hits them just right.
