Agonum muelleri? - Agonum errans - female

Agonum muelleri? - Agonum errans - Female
Toronto, Ontario, Canada
March 16, 2020
Size: 9 mm
Lovely colours on this one! Closest match I can find is Agonum muelleri. Would that be close to correct? Have specimen for more photos if needed.

Everything I see suggests A. errans, rather
The distinctly punctate elytral striae at the base are a strike against muelleri, in the keys I've seen and diagnosis in Lindroth

Moved from Agonum muelleri.

Yes, Agonum errans is a much better fit image-wise.
I have several determined specimens of both A. errans and A. muelleri to compare. The differences in pronotum shapes and degrees of elytra stria punctation are quite obvious side-by-side. I did not receive Owen's specimens so I'll chalk this one up as another of my many photographic fooleries on BugGuide. Thank you Curt for your usual deeper look at images.

Moved
Moved from Ground Beetles.

Agonum muelleri is indeed the best fit
based on strong metallic luster; pronotum medial base without bead; scape (= antennal segment #1) and tibiae distinctly pale against other dark body parts; known in Ontario. In scanning through other posted examples of this species (some likely in error), I believe Owen's image could be the most representative, therefore what I call the prime exemplar or prototype for A. muelleri on BugGuide.

Thank you!
For the in-depth reasoning and confirmation. Hope to go find some more neat beetles tomorrow.
