Moved from Cocoons. Very similar to the Hyposoter cocoon on p. 23 of Wagner.

Parasitoid wasp
...as you may have guessed based on the dead caterpillar next to it. This page shows several similar cocoons (scroll down), but I'm not convinced that they are all identified/filed correctly. Definitely ichneumonoid, but it's not clear to me if both ichneumonids and braconids can have cocoons similar to this, or if one of the two could be said with certainty. Definitely worth collecting and seeing what emerges!
