Amphion floridensis

Amphion floridensis
Jonesborough, Tennessee, USA
April 26, 2008
To me, this bug looks like a combination of a butterfly/bumble bee/fish. A butterfly because of the wings, a bumble because of the butt with yellow and black stripes and a fish because of its tail. I would love to know what kind of insect it is.

We would suggest
Amphion floridensis - Nessus Sphinx, see
