Odd parasitoid - Epistenia - male

Odd parasitoid - Epistenia - Male
Los Villareales, on Sanchez Rd., Starr County, Texas, USA
March 8, 2020
Size: 5mm
Beautiful little wasp. Seems too small for Chrysididae, along with the thorax not matching. Also has pretty impressive cavities for the antennae to sit in.

Epistenia (male)…
A nice find. In this particular genus, the antennal grooves that you mention converge and meet in front of the median ocellus.

See reference here.

Very cool
Thanks Ross!
