Moth - Dichorda iridaria

Moth - Dichorda iridaria
Savannah, Georgia, USA
April 24, 2008
Size: approx 20mm wingspan

emerald
It's definitely in the emerald group of geometers. I'm going with
Showy Emerald Moth - Hodges#7053 (Dichorda iridaria) although I'm not an expert, so you might want to wait for a more definitive ID before moving to the guide pages.

I think you're right. Wonder
I think you're right.
Wondered if it could be related to the Emralds.
What caught my attention was the dark "V" on it's back.
I'll leave it up awhile for additional inputs.

Thanks

Take a look at MPG specimens
I looked at a few on Moth Photographer's Group, in particular, the one on the right on Bob Paterson's page shows the v yours has
http://mothphotographersgroup.msstate.edu/Files/Live/BP/BPspecies/7053.shtml

If you look at Jim Vargo's page,
http://mothphotographersgroup.msstate.edu/Files/JV/JV34.1.shtml

you'll see that dichorda iridaria, and dichorda iridaria remotaria both seem to have at least one "v" on the thorax.
