Tiger camouflage - Cordulegaster erronea

Tiger camouflage - Cordulegaster erronea
Amherst, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, USA
March 31, 2020
The dragonfly larva from my preceding photos really is in this photo, and the next two! Just illustrating how well it blends in on its natural substrate. As if this wasn't enough, Cordulegaster larvae usually bury themselves up to the eyeballs in the sand of their stream bed, waiting to ambush prey.
