Pupa

Pupa
Rockford, winnebago County
April 5, 2020
I know it's full of holes, but I found another that was not. Digging up my urban lawn to put in veg beds.

looks like an acorn
insect pupae have segmentation

Not acorn
I'm quite familiar with acorns, and this is not one. There were several of these where I was diggin, and there are no oak trees in my immediate vicinity. Maybe it is a flower head (or bud) from something else, although I can't imagine what.

Thanks.
