This fly matched up so well with examples I saw in the genus Dalmannia that I put it here rather than a more general area in Diptera. I hope I didn't make a mistake! I noticed that D. nigriceps has been found right here in Winneshiek County Iowa before according to BugGuide's data section and I am quite sure this is D. nigriceps too, although the photos may not be sharp enough to positively ID it. I hope so though.
