p. 133 of Owlet Caterpillars of Eastern North America. ID was chosen based on descriptions of the two caterpillars depicted on this page along with habitats. There are only a "few" "Catocalas" which favor Oak. This is one of them...

Part Of A Complex
This appears to be part of the Catocala amica complex. As such you would need to rear it to an adult in order to identify it and even then arguments would likely ensue.

Regardless collecting host plant info and a quick estimate of the length of your caterpillar subjects can prove to be invaluable information.
