Mayfly - Stenonema femoratum - female

Mayfly - Stenonema femoratum - Female
Montgomery, Orange County, New York, USA
April 30, 2008
Size: 17 mm
Family? Genus? Species?

Heptageniidae, Stenonema femoratum
Jim-

Your gorgeous photo is a female subimago of family Heptageniidae. The crowded cross veins at bulla would suggest Stenonema femoratum.

I think
it may be in the Order Ephemeroptera - Mayflies.

Correct
This is a mayfly... and I'm not sure, but I suspect it's a female subimago (mayflies have two winged life-stages. The subimago is the 1st, followed by the imago, or adult. Only the imago reproduces.)
