Cecidomyiidae, 2nd gall on Sunflower
Plymouth Rock, Winneshiek County, Iowa, USA

July 5, 2017: collected 2 galls on Woodland sunflowers, Helianthus maybe strumosus, this one on the stem at the leaf node
the other one on a leaf

The leaf gall doesn't look rounded enough to be Pilodiplosis helianthibulla and both of them have the opening on the top whereas Pilodiplosis helianthibulla is underneath
