Looks like it.
I think your ID is correct. A word of caution to folks, these insects can squirt an extremely irritating chemical at you over a distance of several inches. If they hit you in the eye, it is very painful as I understand it. There is at least one pair of glands near the insect's neck, not its tail.

 
Walking Stick Irritant
I was completely unaware that these guys did that. We found a family of them in the garage of my beach house, the mother of which, being dead. The father was carrying the baby on his back... which is likely why he decided to "spray" when we were observing him.
LUCKILY I was missed, but my male counterpart's eyes were not... he said it felt like his face was on fire, and his eyes and face were red for some time. It was an unfortunate, but really interesting discovery.
Hexapedes amaze me!
