Eucerceris - Eucerceris arenaria - female

Eucerceris - Eucerceris arenaria - Female
Kelso Dunes, Mojave National Preserve, San Bernardino County, California, USA
April 27, 2008
Size: ~ 11 mm
I come up with Eucerceris: 1)the outer veinlet of the 3rd submarginal cell meets the marginal cell well beyond its outer third (as opposed to that veinlet meeting marginal cell before its outer third, as can be seen in Cerceris); 2) I think I can see transverse depressions.

Appreciate comments!

Good news!
Thanks for the species ID, John!

I bumped into nice type images from the CAS
...and added links to the info page (also a link to the original description). Nice find, Hartmut.

PS: Looks like it was perched on a flower of Baileya pleniradiata...or maybe Philostrophe? ;-)

definitely Eucerceris

Thanks, John,
for confirming the ID.
